Digital Cities Challenge: 5th Technology Forum, Thessaloniki, Greece – Announcement #1
The first wave of cities to take part in the European Commission’s new initiative to stimulate economic growth and social welfare through digital transformation have been selected.
The first group of cities aiming to become better places to live by putting advanced technologies at the service of the citizens are Patras (Greece), Granada (Spain), L’Aquila (Italy), Ventspils (Latvia), Algeciras (Spain), Thessaloniki (Greece), Iasi (Romania) and Sofia (Bulgaria).

In the modern economic environment, competitiveness relies upon the development of innovative products.
Knowledge combined with the right technological tools are key elements in the process of developing innovative products & services. Knowledge of such tools exists in both industrial bodies (ΙCΤ & other industries) as well as in research organisations (Universities & Research Centres). Therefore, their collaboration is important towards developing innovative products with international perspective.
